炒贴专家 (chao3 tie1 zhuan1 jia1) post-promoter

The word refers to people or companies that register many online IDs to reply to online posts so that they remain on the first page of a discussion group and gain more clicks. The posts usually promote online businesses.

搓衣板 (cuo1yi1ban3) thin as a lath

The Chinese term literally means a washing board with wavy grooves. Now it is used jokingly or derogatorily to mean a person, especially a female model, who is as thin as a lath, since their chest case looks very much like a washing board.

蹭健族 (ceng4jian4zu2) gym hanger-on

The term refers to people who seek coupons or other opportunities to use gymnasiums for free. They tend to occupy the facilities for a long time, making themselves a nuisance in many gyms.

出花头 (chu1hua1tou2) novel scheme or funky idea, play hanky-panky

A fresh college graduate has been censured for “overstepping the mark” after she included her sexy photos in her resume, hoping to impress a future employer. The term may also be used to describe a married person who has been involved in extra-marital affairs.

The expression refers to those drivers who try to park their car in a place, such as school compounds, that charges no parking fees.

The Chinese term literally means young birds which have just begun to learn to fly. Lack of skill and experience often makes them faltering and an easy target for their enemies or rivals.

Component blood donation is a specialized service where donors are hooked up to automated machines which separate the donated blood into all its various components, so rather than donating whole blood, a donor has the option to donate only some blood components while retaining others.

穿越小说 (chuan1yue4 xiao3shuo1) back-in-time novel

It refers to those novels that feature a modern-era hero or heroine who is thrown back to an ancient time and relives the well-known historical events, which however are spiced with supernatural and romantic plots.
