An 11-story residential building under construction in the southern India state of Tamil Nadu collapsed late Saturday, killing at least nine people and trapping dozens of others. Most were construction workers who were seeking shelter during heavy rains and lightning.
Witnesses say about 50 people were in the building when it fell. Nearly 30 laborers have been rescued -- some are being treated in hospitals.
Rescuers Sunday said their efforts could go on for days. Indian officials are questioning two people from the construction company.
