The German passport has been ranked the most powerful passport in the world in the latest Passport Power Index conducted by consultancy firm Henley and Partners.

The ranking index scored 218 country passports, with points accumulated passports for each visa free country that their holders can visit without a visa, or they can obtain a visa on arrival.
According to the report, the world is becoming increasingly globalized and more and more people are travelling because of work and lifestyle.
The German passport offered the most travel freedom, with 177 countries allowing hassle-free entry to their bearers. In the second spot was the Swedish passport, with free access into 176 countries. Third place was shared by the Finnish, French, Italian, Spanish and British, all having visa-free access to 175 countries.
Croatia's passport was ranked in equal 24th place, dropping 2 positions from the 2015 and 2014 index. The passports of Somalia, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan were at the bottom of the index.
