Israeli reinforcement move to Gaza border. Saudi troops move to Iraqi border. I’m Ray Kouguell reporting from Washington.

Israeli army is moving troops reinforcement towards border with Gaza after increasing rocket firing from Palestinian territory.

Israeli jet strikes targets in Gaza Thursday while militants continue sending rockets into southern Israel. Israeli officials say the strikes were response to more than 13 rockets fired in Israel since Wednesday. No injuries were reported in Israel but Palestinian officials say tens civilians were wounded.

The violence comes to meet mountain tensions of Arabia teenager in east Jerusalem in a suspected revenge killing for the murder of 3 Israeli teenagers. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu try to comfort the situation Thursday saying he unequivocally condemned the killing of Palestinian teenager.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly mass 30000 troops along its border with Iraq. There has been growing fears that Sunni militants are planning to advance on the kingdom. Phillip Walter Wellman reports.

“According to the Saudi-owned al-Arabiya news channel, the soldiers were deployed after Iraqi government forces abandoned their posts in the border region. The channel said it acquired a video showing up that 2500 soldiers were retreating, but a top Iraqi military spokesman described the claim as false news. Four days ago, the militant group the Islamic State of the Levant declared their own caliphate in territory it seized in Syria and Iraq, renaming it the Islamic State. Saudi Arabia shares an 800-kilometer border with Iraq, nearly half of which is adjacent to land controlled by the militant group. Philip Walter Wellman for VOA news, Dubai.”

The president of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish Region is asking its parliament to prepare for referendum on independence. Masoud Barzani told the region’s legislature in a speech Thursday that it is time to decide about our self-determination. Mr. Barzani asked lawmakers to form a committee to organize a referendum and pick a date for the vote.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says he is ready to resume a ceasefire in his military campaign against pro-Russian separatists if certain conditions are met. President Poroshenko discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine during a phone call with US vice president Joe Biden. Mr. Poroshenko told him he’s ready to return to a ceasefire as soon as it can be confirmed that both sides are observing it, and also in condition that all the hostages are released, and control over the Ukrainian-Russian border established with monitoring by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Four people have been arrested in connection with deadly sectarian clashes in Myanmar, in the second largest city there, Mandalay. Violence began Tuesday after a Buddhist mob attacked a teashop, because of a rumor that Muslim owner had raped a Buddhist woman. Two men were killed overnight triggering a city-wide curfew into 5 A.M Friday.

China and South Korea have agreed to expand economic ties reaffirmed their commitment to a denuclearized Korean Peninsula, as Chinese President Xi Jinping began his state visit to Seoul on Thursday. At a joint news briefing with Mr. Xi, South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Seoul and Beijing will work to complete a long-negotiated free trade agreement by the end of the year.

The campaign of Afghan President hopeful Abdullah Abdullah says he will reject preliminary results expected Monday if election authorities failed to address complaints of vote rigging. Ayaz Gul has more.

“The run-off election pitted former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah against former Finance Minister Ashraf Gahni. While Abdullah won more votes in the first round, Gahni’s aids claims he has beaten his rival by a margin of 1 million votes. With official results expected on Monday, Abdullah’s campaign cites what he called industrial-scale fraud allegedly orchestrated by outgoing President Hamid Kazai and the election commission to rig the vote in favor of Gahni, charges officials have rejected. The commission has already met some of Abdullah’s demands, but his campaign’s chief spokesman Nasrullah Baryali Arsalai on Thursday warned that it will reject any results announced before all their concerns are addressed. The season’s first major Atlantic storm Hurricane Arthur is formed north-eastern seaboard of the United States and could hit beachfront communities in a few hours. National weather forecasters issued a hurricane warning from the mid-Atlantic state of North Carolina, a coastal town on fragile Barrier Islands could be in the northerly path of the storm. The US national hurricane center says the storm is currently packing maximum sustained winds 150 kilometers an hour. I’m Ray Kouguell in Washington. That’s the latest world news from VOA.
